Top 10 for Andrea Bonacorsi in the second moto of the German Grand Prix Created: 2026-05-31

Built on the dark soil of Saxony and featuring a technical and fast layout, the Teutschenthal track hosted the seventh round of the 2026 FIM Motocross World Championship—the MXGP of Germany—this weekend. Following a sunny Saturday dedicated to practice sessions and the qualifying race, heavy rains on Sunday morning transformed the German circuit into a muddy quagmire, scarred by deep ruts that put both bikes and riders to the ultimate test.

Andrea Bonacorsi’s weekend concluded with a strong second moto and a tenth-place finish overall. Aboard his Desmo450 MX, he got off to a good start in Race 1 but was clipped by a competitor, resulting in a tough crash in the mud. Restarting from outside the top 30, the Red Bull Ducati Factory MXGP Team rider fought his way back up to 24th place before a second crash forced him to retire early due to a damaged bike. In Race 2, his launch from the starting gate was excellent; however, Andrea was once again pushed wide by another rider—though this time he managed to stay upright. Riding an excellent first half of the race, he broke into the top ten—setting the sixth-fastest lap time overall—and finished in tenth place a moto fiercely contested right up to the final corner.

After posting the fifth-fastest time during the morning warm-up session, Calvin Vlaanderen managed to get a strong jump off the gate of the first moto. He quickly secured tenth place—a position he held until seven laps from the finish, when a technical issue forced him to pull out of the race. The start of the second moto proved more challenging; the Dutchman crossed the finish line outside the top 20 on the opening lap and attempted a comeback that was slowed by the difficult track conditions, ultimately finishing in 15th place after crashing on the eleventh lap.

Andrea Bonacorsi: “We had a positive day on Saturday; I improved with every track outing and finished ninth in the qualifying race. I felt good this morning; in Race 1, I got off to a good start, but then another rider hit me from behind, causing me to crash and restart well down the pack. I began a strong recovery, but a second crash damaged the bike, and I was forced to stop. In Race 2, I made a decent start, but a contact in the first corner caused me to lose a few positions. I did some good overtakes, broke into the top ten, and finished tenth in what was a solid moto.”

Calvin Vlaanderen: “It was a disappointing day for me. We got a problem in the first moto that forced us to stop, then in second moto I didn’t had a good start, I’ve made some pass and then I had a small crash and I’ve tried my best to do what I can. Obviously this is not the results that I want, so we need to work to make this happen and start fighting in the front.”
