The Loketske Serpentiny track, located on the hills overlooking the castle-town of Loket, is about 140 kilometers west of Prague and has been hosting the FIM Motocross World Championship since 1995. The 1,586-meter-long track, made of hard-packed, rocky terrain, celebrates this year the 30th Czech Republic Grand Prix in its history.

On the steep and fast ups and downs of the Bohemian circuit, Calvin Vlaanderen, with his Desmo450 MX, got 4th place at the end of the free practice that opened the thirteenth MXGP World Championship weekend, securing eighth place at the end of the following timed session before the qualifying race. At the start, the Red Bull Ducati Factory MXGP Team rider couldn’t get the best launch off the gate and after a chaotic start, affected by a group crash at the first corner, he crossed the first lap finish line in 17th. Vlaanderen immediately tried to fight back and gained four positions in the first laps, but he fell again, dropping to the middle of the pack and crossed the finish line 16th.
