The British Grand Prix kicks off the final run of European races before the MXGP circus embarks on the long journey to Turkey, China, and Australia, where the season will conclude. The Foxhills circuit—renowned for spectacular racing in the 1990s—returns to the calendar after a 26-year absence to host the twelfth round of the 2026 season. Located 130 kilometers west of London, the track is fast and technical, characterized by steep and hard-packed undulations.
After finishing ninth in Saturday’s qualifying race, Calvin Vlaanderen lined up for Race 1 determined to maintain the positive momentum that has seen him consistently battling for a top-ten spot. Running 13th after the start, the Red Bull Ducati Factory MXGP Team rider found a strong rhythm, moving up to ninth place by lap six. On the eleventh lap, however, Calvin crashed and dropped to sixteenth; he managed to fight his way back to finish the race in 13th position. The Dutchman got a good start in Race 2, entering the first corner in seventh place, but contact with another rider sent him to the ground, where he was hit by a following rider. Although fellow competitor Ben Watson sportingly helped him free himself from beneath his bike, Vlaanderen was ultimately forced to retire from the race.
Calvin Vlaanderen: “Disappointing end of the weekend like this. I was feeling better going in that second moto, more confident, with a good mental feeling after the sighting lap but unfortunately I came together with another rider and I fell. I got then hit quite hard from behind and I lost breath for a while. Thankful I’m ok and we try to forget this weekend and move on the next one.”
